Homecoming road closures and places to park

The Office of Parking and Transportation will enforce parking lot closures for Howard University’s 102nd Anniversary Homecoming Celebration from Tuesday, Oct. 13, though Sunday, Oct. 18. Parking will be limited, and unauthorized vehicles will be ticketed and towed. The following lot closures will be in effect during this time.

Street Closures

Closed from 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, to 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18:

  • 6th Street
  • Howard Place
  • Girard St
  • Bison Blvd
  • Fairmont St

Closed from 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, to 12:01 a.m. Sunday Oct. 18: College St.

Closed from 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, to 12 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16:

  • Georgia Ave
  • 4th St

*The decision to close these streets will be up to District Department of Transportation (DDOT).

Shuttle Services

Shuttle service will remain fully operational during Homecoming week, with temporary stop adjustments as road closures take effect:

  • Stops along 6th Street will move to Georgia Avenue and Howard Place.
  • On Saturday, October 17, all weekend shuttles will drop off only at Sherman Avenue and Barry Place. No other on-campus stops will be available due to road closures.

Real-time updates will be available via campus-wide announcements and the Howard Shuttle App (Apple App Store and Google Play).
